Community owned since 2020, when over twenty thousand volunteer hours went into a massive refurbishment, The Gun at Ridsdale is a traditional country inn set in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland countryside.
is very close to Northumberland National Park which makes it the perfect base for ramblers and cyclists who want to make the most of our countryside at a leisurely pace.
Overnight Stay
We stayed here for 1 night and it was a very nice place to stay from the lovely decor and the fantastic views, the locals and barmaid made us very welcome and we did have a few pints 😜. Hidden gem with a warm welcome
Stumbled across this little gem after our sat nav rerouted us on the way home. We received a warm welcome, and enjoyed a delicious meal in the sun trap garden. The food was fresh, very reasonably priced and perfect on a summers evening. The kids menu is 3.95 and both had huge portions (and help from the adults to finish the best chips we have tasted in a while), and our pizza was freshly baked and loaded with toppings. Highly recommend stopping if you are passing.

Great food with a lovely view.
Enjoyed a fantastic burger here best in a long while. The fish and chips were good too and lamb stew was very tasty. Nice atmosphere in what is clearly a local pub, helpful staff and great view. The F&L pilsna was refreshing and poured well. One of us also enjoyed a sticky toffee pudding with custard. Great community run pub.

Lovely, friendly place to stay.
Stayed here on 26th April 2025. There was a warm welcome on our arrival. We were shown up to our room which was clean and had everything we needed. Our evening meal was really good, couldn't fault it. There was a lovely atmosphere in the pub and all the staff were very friendly. We would definitely stop here again.

A little gem.
Fantastic little place, so glad we found it and happy to contribute to a community owned project. From the second you walk in, you are met by the lovely staff/ volunteers who make you feel very welcome and at home. The pub is cosy with a big wood burner, and the drinks are reasonably priced. Dinner was great, hearty home cooking, the lamb stew was delicious! The room was lovely, nicely decorated, perfectly clean, nice bathroom, and the bed and linen were comfy and cosy. Breakfast was included and was also very tasty, perfectly poached eggs. There is a lovely big window in the dining room with a fantastic open view over the fields and hills. 100% would recommend Help support our rural communities!

BRILLIANT STOP OVER
The perfect little village Inn with a woodburner in the corner and a great view from the Dinner / Breakfast room. Part volunteer run as a community enterprise, a lot of work has gone in recently to completely modernise and make this a top stop over if you are heading N or S. Loads of nice little touches and a simple menu with good hearty country food at reasonable prices. Dont often leave reviews but this Country Inn / Pub was exactly what were looking for as we searched on the move.

Lovely Sunday lunch
Called in on the off chance and ordered 2 Sunday lunches, one Gluten Free. Nice variety of veg which was well cooked. Home made Yorkshires and gravy was nice too. Topped it of with chocolate fondant and ice cream. Service was politevand prompt I would definitely go back.

Stayed over New Year
Perfect stay for visiting Northumberland. It is located close to everything. There isn't anything in the village apart from The Gun but we were aware of this. Breakfast was included which set us up for the day. Staff were welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Beds were comfy and slept well. I even left something and they posted it to my home address.
